EONS ist der "Dachverband" aller europäischen Onkologiepflegegesellschaften. Die Gesellschaft setzt auf europäischer Ebene in folgenden Bereichen ihre pflegerischen Strategien um:

Weiterbildung
Kommunikation
Einfluss in die politische Agenda
Forschung 

Sara Faithful ist noch bis 2009 Präsidentin von EONS. Der ehemalige Präsident, Jan Foubert, wurde zum exekutiven Direktor gewählt. Anita Margulies, Vorstandsmitglied der Onkologiepflege Schweiz war während 6 Jahren im Beirat tätig. Sie wurde nun in den Vorstand gewählt. Hélène Schneck, ebenfalls Vorstandsmitglied der Onkologiepflege Schweiz, ersetzt sie und vertritt von nun an die schweizerischen Onkologiepflegenden in Brüssel.

Alle Mitglieder der Onkologiepflege Schweiz (OPS) sind automatisch Mitglieder von EONS. EONS ist der europäische Berufsverband der Onkologie-Pflegefachpersonen. 34 nationale Verbände aus 25 Ländern aus ganz Europa sind vertreten.
